Engine. The Polaris 90 Sportsman is brought to life by a two-stroke, fan-cooled single-cylinder engine that is transversely mounted. It has a bore-stroke ratio of 52 x 42 mm (2.05 x 1.65 inches). The engine displacement is 89.2 cm3 (5.44 in3) delivered by a Mikuni AM7 carburetor with automatic choke, and its compression ratio is 5.8:1.

He performs A-B-A tests comparing inlet runner lengths on a 1600cc engine in an amateur racing car. Here is a link to the report.and here is an interesting print out of torque curves, comparing a 40mm length with a (ridiculous, but interesting) 330mm length.

Your Stroke Rate is how many strokes you take in a minute, counting both arms. For example, 40 Strokes Per Minute (SPM) is a slow stroke rate, 80 SPM is a high stroke rate.

May 25, 2018Position the calipers on the deck surface (jaws up). Expand the calipers until the depth rod contacts the piston deck. The measurement is the deck clearance. A more accurate method is to use a Deck Bridge and a Dial Indicator. Install dial indicator in the bridge. Place the bridge on deck surface of engine block. Zero the indicator.

Aug 11, 2011He said he always ran shorter rods in his little engines. According to most of the stroke/rod length ratios I've seen, the stock 5.7 rod is pretty close for a 3.25 stroke engine. I'm not saying it's right, just something else to look at. Larry T
